If you’re looking to start or end your weekend in a really cool way, have I got the place for you! Every Friday and Sunday night the Spot Caffe in Riverwood transforms into the rockin burger pop up, Miss America’s Diner. Last Friday night I took Mr 10 on a dinner date to Miss America's. We were keen to see how their dawgs, fries and burgers stacked up.

As we drove up Belmore Rd, Mr 10 was able to point out the diner when he saw their American flags from the car. Parking was easy with plenty available in the car park behind the shops. After a quick walk we arrived at Miss America's Diner. Walking in to see the staff and diner decked out in nostalgic gear from the rock n roll era instantly put me in a good mood.

We had fun making our dinner selections from the big American names on the menu. The Sinatra, Marilyn and Fat Elvis all sounded great. Mr 10 was quick to decide on the hot diggity dawg, cheesy fries and ice cream soda. I thought I was in the mood for a love me tender chicken burger but then I saw James Dean!

Our food arrived looking all American on chequered napkins in bright coloured baskets. I had never eaten fries with melted cheese before so this was a first. Mr 10 gave the cheesy fries the thumbs up, I enjoyed quite a few with chopped shallots. Mr 10’s hot diggity dawg was generously topped with bacon and cheese in a soft hot dog bun. As a grand finale, oodles of mustard and smokey bbq sauce crisscrossed its way across the  top of the bun.

My James Dean burger had two angus beef patties, melting cheese, bacon, tomato and lettuce. All of Miss America's burgers are served with pickle, onion jam, mild mustard and sweet BBQ sauce. I loved how those beef patties were a little crisp on the edges but thick and juicy in the centre. The cheese was gooey and luscious. It slowly flowed down the side of my burger coating everything in its cheesy flavour.

Desserts were listed on the flip side of Miss America's Menu. If you were up for more after your burger and fries you could indulge in anything from a fat shake to an American Sundae. Mr 10 went with a spider made with traditional American creaming soda. It looked amazing topped with whipped cream and lollies! If I could have fitted in dessert I would have gone a slice of apple pie, it looked so good. I will have to try that next time!
