We recently received a tip off from a reader that Mount Druitt Westfield is home to a cool café, but they couldn’t remember what it was called. We wandered around the shopping centre until we came across Espresso Warriors and thought, this has to be it.

Espresso Warriors industrial interiors make it feel new and fresh. The large logo out the front, which also keeps with the industrial theme is what initially caught our eye, so we noticed it again when our coffee was served in a mug adorned with the logo.

Food trends at the moment make me laugh as they are so extreme. There’s the crazy, diabetes-in-a-mason-jar milkshakes, deep fried anything and everything and you can’t forget about cronuts (which are so 2014) and scrolls. On the other end of the scale, there are the green juices and smoothies, acai bowls and bun-less burgers. The menu at Espresso Warriors has something for everyone as it covers all bases when it comes to these much loved food trends. While you can get a jazzed up shake, we ordered a good ole’ simple strawberry milkshake to go alongside an American style beef burger, served on brioche with a side of fries, salad and a pickle (you can tell which side of the food trend we favour). We also ordered lamb souvlaki, which although didn’t come with the cabbage and cucumber salad as per the menu, we were still happy that the lamb was tender and flavoursome.

We managed to control ourselves and not order one of the delicious looking desserts starring at us from behind the glass counter. Maybe next time we will have to order a granola bowl for lunch so we feel less guilty about having a nutella scroll afterwards – it’s all about balance, right?
