We have had to put on our running shoes on to keep up with the rapidly growing cafe scene in Western Sydney. I am happy to say we finally made it to The Factoria! It’s in an unusual spot, a factory unit in Wetherill Park. We found more than great coffee here, they stock a variable range of Italian gourmet groceries too. When we walked in and saw how this hip cafe was fitted out, I got a big rush of excitement! Being a mad collector of retro kitchenware. I could not tear my eyes off the bright retro walls and cool kitchen relics!

The Factoria was full of surprises. Before we settled in with coffee we found plenty to explore. First a shadowy hidden corridor filled with a quirky mix of gourmet, paleo, gluten free and organic groceries. Then another door led us into cool room loaded up with beautiful cheeses and salami.

The tables and chairs inside the cafe sat next to shelves of pasta, rows of oils and rustic displays of Italian gourmet goodies. I almost forgot we came for coffee. Trying to decide what to order here was a tease. There was an amazing line up of gelato, sweet pastries, pies, quiches and panini’s to ponder over in the glassed displays!

We just popped in for a quick snack so chose to share a ferrero cronut over a skinny latte and iced vo vo shake. After one bite of that chocolatey cronut I could see why they were racing out the door that morning. Alice’s iced vo vo shake was a little sweet for my savoury loving tooth but the sip I tried was very iced vo vo. Next visit we might book in for their gorgeous weekday Italian high teas, and taste a bit of everything!

We love finding places like this where the simple joy of stepping out for a coffee turns into something unexpected. It's no surprise The Factoria is becoming  known as The Grounds of the West.
