South-west Sydney couple Lily and David are the perfect pair. Lily loves making desserts and David loves eating them. So together, they have created Sweet Vicinity, offering beautiful dessert cups which they call “the next generation of desserts”.

Sweet Vicinity’s dessert cups would be a show stopper at any party or wedding. They are works of art which provide an exciting visual and textural experience, as well as taste amazing. The variety of flavours on offer by Sweet Vicinity ensures that there is something suitable for every taste and party theme. The flavours have been inspired by Lily and David’s Asian background, as well as their childhood memories. We were lucky enough to taste-test six Sweet Vicinity dessert cups which created nostalgic experiences for us too.

Taro Pannacotta with Lychee and Tapioca Pearls
This creamy pastel-purple pudding has a welcome surprise hidden at the bottom of the cup. The pearls of tapioca add a burst of texture which complements the pannacotta and tropical lychees wonderfully. This dessert cup reminded me of when I was in high school and would sip on an EasyWay bubble tea while waiting for the train. This was also mum’s favourite dessert cup of the day.

Rosewater Watermelon Cake
This fragrant dessert has lots of texture and layers of flavour from the cake, watermelon, cream and pistachios, as well as the rosewater. We think this dessert cup would be fit for a princess or prince. It reminded me of my 6th birthday party which was, of course, a pink princess theme.

Pandan Pannacotta with Coconut Jelly and Flakes
A delicate lime green mousse, with cubes of jelly and a sprinkling of shredded coconut. The pandan flavour of this is subtle but with just the right amount of sweetness. This is Lily’s favourite dessert cup and was inspired by her memories of eating Banh Kep La Dua in Cabramatta as a child.

Matcha Green Tea and White Chocolate Cheesecake
Thick and creamy with a biscuit crumb base and sprinkling of matcha powder on top. Like the others, it is both pretty and tasty. While matcha green tea seems to be a real trend at the moment, this was a food first for us. Next time we have matcha green tea, this will be what we think back to.

Chocolate Mousse with Crunchy Balls
A rich and silky smooth chocolate mousse with pops of milk, white and dark chocolate balls on top which add a nice, contrasting crunchy texture. This is David’s favourite dessert and it reminds him of his favourite childhood breakfast cereal, Coco Pops.

Tim Tam Cheesecake
Another option for the chocolate lovers. The iconic Aussie bickie, the Tim Tam, has been transformed into a cheesecake dessert cup. What makes this dessert particularly fun and cute is the syringe of chocolate sauce which you cake squeeze into your cheesecake for an extra hit of sweetness. This dessert cup reminded me of the way too many times I have managed to eat a packet of Tim Tams by myself. Not surprisingly, it was also my favourite dessert cup of the day.

There is no doubt that these dessert cups would not only bring back memories but also create new, precious ones at any special occasion.
