Twine and Twig has been keeping residents of Wentworth Point fed and watered since 2012. Since that time, or certainly the past year and a half that I have been frequenting it, the café has continuously evolved its seasonal menu to include some really unique and healthy options. The most recent meal I had from Twine and Twig was an impressive, healthy brunch dish that has reignited my love for the charming neighbourhood café.

Twine and Twig has a whimsical, fairy-tale feel about it. Hand drawn chalk murals cover the walls, board games are available to play as you sip your coffee and a library of books for sale line the shelves. Ever-popular with the hordes of cyclists that are attracted to the Sydney Olympic Park region, as well as local couples and families, Twine and Twig appeals with its homely, eclectic aesthetics as well as its food.

I ordered a dish called the Wholesome Hungry Wolf. Toasted slices of sourdough are spread with creamy avocado, then topped with sautéed mushrooms, fresh spinach, salty grilled haloumi and then two poached eggs with oozy, runny yolks. To finish it off, there is a sprinkle of dukkah with a side of lemon. This dish is not only presented beautifully, but also has a wonderful contrast of flavours and textures.

Ethan ordered what he always does for brunch: a classic bacon and egg roll. Interestingly, there wasn’t a bacon and egg roll listed on the menu, but we asked for one and they happily put one together for him. It was a Turkish bread bun, with crispy bacon, two fried eggs & BBQ sauce which he happily devoured.

I sipped on a coffee, while Ethan had a strawberry milkshake. I also ordered a freshly squeezed juice to take away and we couldn’t resist getting a sweet caramel donut to share later on. Both were delicious.

Twine and Twig have also just released an app so busy locals can pre-order their meals and drinks, then get sent a text/email when their order is ready to pick up. From what I hear, it works a treat!
