The Ironbark Terrace at St Marys Rugby Leagues Club is the ultimate outdoor dining venue. Decked out in timber with casual lounges and a huge sports screen, this space has a warm sociable atmosphere. At the heart of the Terrace is the Ironbark Pizzeria, which serves the perfect food for this laid back environment  - pasta, risotto and woodfired pizza.

Look inside the Ironbark Pizzeria, and you will see chefs rolling dough on flour covered benches. The pizza game is strong here, and they pride themselves on making pizzas from scratch with fresh ingredients. The pizza menu lists all the traditional favourites as well as modern gourmet pizzas with more creative combinations.

One of these is the Thai Satay Pizza. It’s topped with an interesting mix of mozzarella, satay chicken (or prawns), broccoli, snow peas, cashew nuts and coconut flakes. The Thai flavours and crisp greens bring freshness and crunch with every bite. We were pleasantly surprised by just how delicicious the Thai Satay Pizza is.

Another gourmet great is The Godfather. This pizza has all the colours of the Italian flag in a flavour loaded combination of pepperoni, chicken breast, garlic prawns, chorizo, baby spinach, feta and red onion.

When it comes to pasta, we do love a creamy Fettuccine Boscaiola with plenty of bacon and mushrooms. Or for something different, a Seafood Spaghetti with generous portions of king prawns, squid, octopus and clams in a garlicky tomato-based sauce. The pasta menu allows you to mix and match your favourite type of pasta with a delicious classic sauce.

Italian food is filling, so we skipped the risotto and went straight to dessert. The options are simple but impressive - scoops of creamy gelato or a dessert pizza smothered in delicious nutella, fruit and other treats. If you're dining with friends it would be fun to try the group hug of 10 to 15 scoops of gelato in a large share bowl. For the two of us, a Mars Bar Pizza topped with Nutella, sliced banana, and shaved Mars Bar was more than enough, and what more could we want but delicious swirls of carmel sauce and a big scoop of vanilla bean gelato to top it off.

Drinks are on hand from the dedicated bar, and there’s a cafe just inside the club if you feel like a coffee.

St Marys Rugby Leagues Club is known as being a big club with a small club feel, and after dining here we can add that it’s a welcoming place to visit. The Ironbark Pizzeria is the ideal place to meet up with friends and family for drinks and a bite to eat, and even watch the footy. Meals are very generous here so arrive hungry and you'll leave content.
