It wasn't all that long ago that the road between Liverpool and Camden was a country drive, but now it's growth corridor of Sydney! Brand new communities are springing up at a rate of knots, and among the sprawling developments, we are finding some great places to eat.

14 North 108 East recently opened in Emerald Hills Shopping Village Leppington - and this modern Vietnamese eatery offers diners a feast for the senses!

The owners of 14 North 108 East are also the talented team behind the hugely successful cafe chain, Espresso Warriors. So it makes sense that their latest venture takes its name from the coordinates of Pleiku, a Vietnamese city which is famous for the production of coffee!

14 North 108 East is open for breakfast lunch and dinner six days a week. An open kitchen allows diners a peek behind the scenes. There are three spacious dining areas which flow seamlessly from cafe to casual dining, to a chic cocktail bar with softly lit tables and an intimate atmosphere.

Cane light pendants add a touch of natural texture, and the larger dining tables feature an antique sewing machine, all of which contribute to the restaurant's stylish aesthetic.

The focal point is a stunning floor to ceiling mural of feminine figures, which was hand painted by a local Sydney artist, Sophi Odling. This beautiful artwork was inspired by Sophi's travels to Vietnam.

The menu lists vibrant pan Asian dishes, designed to share, which makes 14 North 108 East, the perfect social venue. I dined during the evening with my friend Kim  (from Go West Gourmet).  We kicked off with two gorgeous cocktails, a Virgin Mojito and Lychee Caipiroska. We skipped the alcohol because we were driving, but our drinks tasted just as impressive as the fully loaded versions.

We ordered our meal from the dinner menu, which has a good mix of classic and contemporary dishes.  Our waiter told us that Thit Nuong ($6) is one of the signatures. The price is excellent for two generous skewers of tender char-grilled pork and a house made lemongrass and peanut sauce.

The Puffed Rice Tempura King Prawns ($12) delivered much more flavour than we expected. Underneath the crispy rice coating, we found a juicy king prawn, wrapped in a delicious layer of pork.

We also ordered the Sweet and Sour Chick Pops ($9), these are incredible, especially when eaten with all the tasty garnishes scattered throughout the bowl, they add that extra pop!

Every good Vietnamese eatery serves an epic fried rice.  At 14 North 108 East, it's the Pineapple Fried Rice Boat with seafood ($18).

If you're looking something pretty, Luc Luc Salad hits the spot. This insta-worthy plate satisfies the craving for something fresh and delicious with Vietnamese herbs, shredded banana blossom, marinated beef, and a zesty well balanced dressing ($25).

Dessert brings a modern twist to Asian indulgences.  North East Sago with caramel infused pineapple ($15),  and the deep-fried Banana Spring Roll with butterscotch sauce & coconut ice-cream ($15) , were the two heavenly desserts we couldn't resist.

Vietnamese coffee is as much of a treat as it is a caffeine hit. The secret ingredients are condensed milk and St . Ali coffee served in a tall chilled glass over ice - a great finish to any Vietnamese meal.

Sophisticated cuisine with service to match, 14 North 108 East is one of my favourite discoveries of the year.
