If you are looking for waterfront dining in the heart of western Sydney, look no further than Port Bar, Parramatta. In prime position, right at the ferry wharf, Port Bar serves delicious, generous portions of your favourite Italian dishes. My friend Nat and I went to Port Bar for lunch to celebrate her birthday on a sunny summer’s day.

To start, we shared an entrée of garlic prawns in Napolitana sauce. It was simply delicious. We had to ask for extra bread to soak up every last drop of the delicious tomato sauce. After much thinking, for our main, we opted for the linguine vodka with blue swimmer crab and the gnocchi with rocket and gorgonzola. Both dishes of decadent ingredients were rich and flavoursome. The plate sizes were incredible. We easily could have shared just one between us, but we wanted to try both dishes!

Needless to say, our tummies were extremely full afterwards, so we went for a stroll down the revitalized Parramatta River promenade afterwards. The riverside is certainly looking fantastic these days. The artistic and functional features have made the area a fun, family friendly environment and Port Bar has the perfect vantage point. After our walk, we couldn’t resist popping into nearby Messina for some of their famous gelato.
