Images of incredible looking donut desserts have been popping up in our facebook feed a lot lately. These delicious looking creations are from Donut Bomb, an all-donut cafe in Liverpool. Their donuts look totally decadent on a computer screen, so we just had to head out there to indulge in a little weekend treat - brace yourselves for an explosion of yum!

The wait is over, District 8 is now open at Cabra-Vale Diggers. District 8 Ambassador Adam Liaw cut the opening ribbon during October at an exciting launch which featured a celebration of dancing Chinese Lions. This South-East Asian dining precinct has been styled on the neon lit Hawker Markets of Singapore, and needs to be seen to be believed!

Parramatta is currently trending as a hotspot for foodies. One place getting plenty of social media attention is Bay Vista, a dessert bar near the river on Church Street. This place has everything a dessert lover could dream of, massive ice cream bowls, cocktail glass desserts, fluffy pancakes, and Nutella on tap. The food scene in Parra is looking sweet.

The Macarthur region is well known for its many food gems, the latest one we have discovered is the Narellan Hotel. The bistro area, called The Pavilion, has a fresh and inviting feel. The menu offers classic pub grub like steak and schnitzel, as well some popular modern favourites like buttermilk fried chicken burgers and fish tacos. We called in for dinner and ordered some dishes which gave us the best of both worlds.

Lochiel House in Kurrajong Heights is a beautiful colonial cottage in a boutique country setting. The food served here is Modern Australian with Asian influences inspired by the owners' travels abroad. The dishes are all elegantly presented with sophisticated flavours. The food at Lochiel house is not just delicious, it’s a work of art. This is the perfect destination for a weekend food escape.

Castle Towers is best known as a great spot to indulge in retail therapy, but this shopper's paradise also offers over 60 places to eat and drink making it a great destination for food as well. The larger restaurants are located around a central water feature in The Piazza, an outdoor plaza totally dedicated to food. This is where Kinn Thai can be found, it’s a restaurant which serves Thai food with a fresh and modern twist.

Food Truck Weekends has to be one of Wetherill Park’s best kept secrets. Every Friday and Saturday night one of the steely warehouses in the industrial corridor of Victoria Street transforms into the food truck pop up – Food Truck Weekends. This more intimate food truck venue has become one of our regular weekend eating spots, it's always fun to visit, for more than just the food!

We first met Tinsae a few years ago at a local multicultural food event. She was serving coffee at her signature Djebana Coffee stall behind an eye catching display of African baskets and ornate coffee pots. Tinsae offered us a cup of her fair trade Ethiopian coffee and some popcorn to nibble on. This kind gesture was our introduction to Ethiopian food culture. We now know that when Tinsea isn't roasting coffee beans, her passion is cooking, especially the food of her original homeland, Ethiopia. Tinsae shares her love of Ethiopian cuisine via her cooking classes at the Auburn Community Centre. However, just recently she decided to branch out and offer food lovers an alternative way to explore the lively flavours of Ethiopia, at a secret Dinner With Tinsae.

Paddy's have joined the Western Sydney food truck frenzy with the recent launch of Paddy's Night Food Markets in Flemington. In its first few weeks the markets  have attracted a large crowd of people keen to rev up their Saturday night with some food truck fare, arcade games and a party atmosphere. We were there too, and were blown away with both the crowd and the food!

Georges Hall isn't one of Western Sydney’s best known food hubs but just off Henry Lawson drive there's an assortment of restaurants nestled beside the Georges River. One these restaurants is Adagio’s Steakhouse, formerly known as Adagio's Cafe. We learnt that Adagio's owner Chris loves nothing more than good food and wine and it was his passion for cooking more meaty dishes which steered him to change the food focus at Adagio's, from cafe to steakhouse. We called in on a cool wintery evening to be warmed up with some good food and wine.
