  • Alroy Tavern, Plumpton

    When someone asks me for a suggestion on where they should go out to eat, the Western Sydney suburb of Plumpton, located near Mount Druitt has never come to mind. But that’s because I had never heard of the Alroy Tavern before. Now that I’ve visited, it’s high up on the Western Sydney Food Blog’s list of recommendations in this region of Sydney.

  • Atura Hotel, Blacktown

    Last month was Ethan’s birthday. It was also my first study break since starting my degree via correspondence over a year ago. To celebrate, I promised Ethan a surprise weekend away. However, when it came time to searching for somewhere nice to stay, my hopes were shattered when I found that the average price for hotels around this time of year is $400 a night - way over my budget! After more searching, I finally found a place that ticked all the boxes – affordable, looked nice, not too far away and with fun places to visit nearby. It was the Atura Hotel at Blacktown. Yep, Blacktown. Happy Birthday Ethan, we’re off 25 minutes down the road to Blacktown.

    While in Blacktown checking out the Westpoint shops with Alice and Mr 10 last weekend, we thought it would be nice to have lunch in one of the local Blacktown eateries. We decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the Sunday shoppers and step out into Main Street to find a local restaurant in a quieter setting. We found our way to Blacktown Thai.

     

  • Presentation at Western Sydney Multicultural Food Festival

    This year, Blacktown City Libraries hosted their first ever Western Sydney Multicultural Food Festival and we were lucky enough to be invited! Not only did we attend the Festival, but we also had the opportunity to give a talk to library goers at Max Webber Libraryin Blacktown. The focus of our talk was ‘Why we blog about food in Western Sydney’. There are five main reason for why we blog about food in Western Sydney. They are:

  • Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club

    Attention all golfers! Did you know Western Sydney has a beautiful big Greg Norman designed Golf Course just ten minutes north west of Blacktown? It's called Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club, and it's the home of the New South Wales Open. But wait there's more! The Chefs at Stonecutters Ridge have been finalists two years in row in the Club's NSW cooking competition, The Chefs Table. When we went to dinner at the club, we had high expectations!
