  • Aussie Agriculture at the Show

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is back and it’s as good as ever. Walking through the gates at 9am on the first day, we were some of the first of the 900,000 people expected to attend this year’s Show. We had a fantastic day full of fun and of course, food! The message at this year’s show is loud and clear: Support Australian Agriculture.

To celebrate the last day of Autumn, Sydney Living Museumshosted the food focused Autumn Harvest at the historic Rouse Hill House and Farm. We braved the rain and trudged through the mud to have a quick browse at the festivities.

  • Berala's Buddhist Vegetarian Food Festival

Today I feel blessed as my family and I joined the local Buddhist community in a celebration of vegetarian food. The local Lingyen Mountain Temple of Berala hosted the event at our local park following the official opening of its new Guan Yin Pusa Shrine. Attendees made the short pilgrimage from the shrine at the Lingyen Mountain Temple to Coleman Park and the celebrations began

  • Earn Your Tucker

Yesterday I travelled back in time and had a go at traditional farm life. I, along with my eldest (22) and youngest (8) visited the historic Rouse Hill House and Farm for their ‘Earn Your Tucker’ program. It was a hands-on day all about learning how food made its way to the table during the times when the Rouses were residing on the farm from the 1800s.

  • Parklands Food Fest 2015

It has been a very busy week for us, but there’s no rest for the wicked as this weekend we decided to visit some more of the Good Food Month events that are on during October. Today, while mum checked out the Casula Powerhouse Sweet As Festival, I soaked up the sun at the Parklands Food Fest.

  • Parramatta Lanes 2015

We love October. Not only is it because we are well and truly into Spring and we can see Christmas starting to approach, but also because there are so many food events on as it is Good Food Month! This week the Parramatta Lanesfestival is on. There’s two days left, tonight and tomorrow night from 5pm to 9pm. We went on the first night and had a ball!

  • Parramatta's Parralanes and Parramasala

There have been many food and culture festivals happening all throughout western Sydney during October's Good Food Month. Hopefully you didn’t miss Parramatta Lanes or Parramasala over the past few weeks. Both festivals filled the streets around Parramatta with great food, colour, lights, contemporary art and dancing. In what I can only describe as a party atmosphere, I immersed myself in the colour and culture of both nights and got reacquainted with some of the thriving streets around Parramatta.

  • Presentation at Western Sydney Multicultural Food Festival

This year, Blacktown City Libraries hosted their first ever Western Sydney Multicultural Food Festival and we were lucky enough to be invited! Not only did we attend the Festival, but we also had the opportunity to give a talk to library goers at Max Webber Libraryin Blacktown. The focus of our talk was ‘Why we blog about food in Western Sydney’. There are five main reason for why we blog about food in Western Sydney. They are:

  • Sweet As Festival 2014, Casula Powerhouse

It’s an exciting time in western Sydney with the October Good Food Month now full swing . From what I have experienced so far, western Sydney is definitely the place to celebrate Sydney’s big annual food event. Yesterday I ventured out to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre with my nine year old son. We were there to tempt our sweet tooth at the Sweet As Festival 2014. As an added bonus we were treated to some art and culture with many colourful art exhibits on show around the desserts.

  • The Sydney Good Food & Wine Show 2015

The Sydney Good Food and Wine Show is the one event I look forward to each year like a kid waiting for Christmas. I was one of the first people through the door last Friday morning when the show opened at Olympic Park. With a good foodie friend beside me we spent the day exploring the offerings of this mega food event. We met some wonderful people behind the food and wine labels, excitingly we unearthed a few from Western Sydney!
